How to
Build a Website in 7 Steps. Or 1
Step.
In 7 Steps
1. Hosting
Hosting is the place where you keep
your website. It is usually provided
by a hosting company. While it's
possible to build a website on your
personal computer, you need to move
it online in order for everyone to
see it. So the first thing you'll
want to do is find a Web hosting
provider. 2. Reserve a Domain
Name
Domain name is what people type in
their browser to get to your
website. Although you don't need a
domain name to put up a website,
it's recommended you get one. A
domain name provides extra branding
for your site and makes it easier
for people to remember the URL.
3. Plan Your Website
This is the step where you lay out
on paper what you want your site to
look like. For this, you need to
know: type of site (news,
information, product, etc.), content
(what information you will have on
your site, whether it is static or
dynamic), structure, navigation,
etc. 4. Build Your Website's
Pages
In order to have a complete
website, you need to build all of
its web pages. Working on one page
at a time is the best approach here.
In order to do this, you need to be
familiar with the design basics,
HTML language, CSS, FrontPage,
PageMill, Dreamweaver or other
website editors, PHP or other
scripting languages, etc.
5.Publish Your Website
This one is easy. You simply need to
transfer your pages to the hosting
provider you set up in step 1. This
is usually done with an FTP client
or tools that come with your hosting
service. 6. Promote Your
Website
In order to attract traffic to your
website, you need to promote it
through search engine optimization (SEO).
In general, if your website is built
well, it ranks well in search
engines. This is difficult, but it
is inexpensive and can result in
good results if you work at it.
7. Maintain Your Website
This is the boring job of updating
your website in order to keep it
going well and looking good. Testing
your site as you're building it and
then after it's been live for a
while is important. And you should
also work on content development on
a regular basis.
